At the port in Patra just before leaving bearing in mind we did have a midnight departure
Sleeping quarters on the boat
.... more sleeping quarters on the boat
The swimming pool and jacuzzi on the boat.. as you can see it was a nice boat and despite it taking 1600 people there was only cabins for 500 so at least 1000 were sleeping rough, many of them fa,ilies and young kids and of course me... but I slept on the deck on a lounger with my duvet and pillow
And a photo to show you what Greece was like.. there were NO toilets where you could put toilet paper down the toilet .. it was pretty standard no matter what level of accommodation you paid for
Well the 32 hour boat ride is over and it wasnt that bad really. The first night was great as Coraleen's roommates didnt board until Corfu which was 7am the following morning so I slept in there.. set the alarm for 6.55 and disappeared onto the deck to make sure I had a deckchair for the remainder of the journey.
The swimming pool and jacuzzi complex on the deck was great and I laid in a corner, in my bikini reading and sunbathing for the remainder of the day.
Evening was spent at dinner and drinks.. a few games of bingo.. and I won Euro21 at the Casino.. of course then I had to spend the next 8 hours sleeping on the deck. I must confess it was an experience.. I didn't sleep well BUT there were hundreds of others keeping me company. The boat takes 1700 people and only 500 beds.. does that give you some idea of the number of people sleeping all over the place.. young people, old people, families.. dogs.. lol Yes its just one big soire. I was a bit pissed off though as this particular boat allowed Deck Camping and had we known I could have arranged to sleep in the van.. I did try but without a pass you couldnt get in and out without catching someone else coming through the doors at the same time....
Arriving in Venice this morning was spectacular... the boat comes right up through the main canal ways.. and you get a close up view of the beauty of it all.. not that I will say the canals are beautiful.. because of course they are rather dirty.. but the buildings.. absolutely amazing.
